A Fire. A Stranger. And An Idea.
I grew up in Sarasota, and spent the last few years grinding through a sales job in Tampa, right after college, trying to figure out what I actually wanted to do with my life.
I ended up moving back home and now work for my dad, as I build something out of the garage on the side. That something is Burma Research.
The Origin
How It Started
It started with a camping trip.
My dad and I were at Kissimmee State Park. Windy day, stubborn fire, the kind of situation where you start questioning every life choice that led you there. Some guy nearby noticed us struggling, walked over, propped a stick up and snapped it in half with a quick stomp. Handing us a piece of what was fatwood. One strike. Fire. Done.
I had never heard of fatwood before that day.
A few weeks later I couldn't stop thinking about it. Fatwood is already incredible. A dense, resin-saturated pine that catches in almost any condition. But I kept coming back to one question: what if you didn't need the ferro rod, or lighter either? What if you removed the last variable completely?
That question became Monster Matches.
The Product
What We're Building
Monster Matches are 4" fatwood fire starters — the largest available. They light in wind, rain, and cold without lighter fluid, a ferro rod, or any external ignition source. Strike it. Done.
Right now we source from a manufacturer overseas while we build the brand and the volume to justify something bigger. The long term goal is domestic production. American-made Monster Matches, built by American hands.
And one day I want these in the field with real military personnel. A fire starter so reliable it earns a place in a soldier's kit. That's the vision. We're just getting started.

Who I Am
Just a kid who loves to be outside. So I built this product because I actually use products like it and I got tired of the ones that didn't work when it mattered.
